Birr Castle is definitely one of my favorite place

Birr Castle is definitely one of my favorite places to visit in spring. There's so much to see, you could spend hours in the gardens alone and then there is also the science centre to explore and a kid's playground with the biggest treehouse in Ireland! Will you be planning a visit over summer...whenever that kicks in?!

With thousands of castles dotted around Ireland it's still possible to enjoy some of them without the crowds, or even have them all to yourself.

With the busy season approaching it's a good reminder (to myself!) that there's so much to see and do without having to spend a fortune or visit the popular spots. The stunning Museum Building at Trinity College wo

The stunning Museum Building at Trinity College wouldn't look out of place in a Harry Potter movie! The entrance hall contains pillars, balustrades and bannisters constructed of Irish marbles and Cornish serpentine, making it a very fitting location for the geology department, which has been housed here for almost 160 years.

We had such a great time doing the Tullamore D.E.W

We had such a great time doing the Tullamore D.E.W. distillery tour at the weekend. Highly recommend it if you're heading to Offaly. P.S. this is not an ad and I'm not even a whiskey drinker...though I am a sucker for a good Irish coffee, so that was the perfect welcome! ☺️

Highlights:
* The aforementioned Irish coffee!
* Hitching a ride in the Tully Bus with Alan 👍😜
* Visiting the Warehouse and hidden snug (couldn't take photos there sorry!)
* Taste testing...I could be converted yet!
* Our tour guide Ellen who made the experience a whole lot of fun 🙌

This impressive lock keeper's house is located along the Grand Canal Way, just a 15 minute walk from Tullamore.

Located at the 26th lock, it was built by Michael Hayes around 1800. As the lock keeper stationed here was Mr Boland, it is known as Boland's Lock.

Have you visited Strokestown Park and the National

Have you visited Strokestown Park and the National Famine Museum yet? If not, I'd highly recommend it. The recently renovated museum offers a fascinating and harrowing insight into life during the Great Irish Famine.

The museum is located in the former stables of Strokestown House, which can also be visited on a guided tour. Allow at least 3 - 4 hours for the tour, museum, gardens and of course a bite to eat in the cafe!
